Artistic Director, Pravesh Kumar founded Rifco Theatre Company in 2000 in Slough and we are now one of the UK's most successful touring companies. Since 2011, we have been the Resident Company at Watford Palace Theatre and our mission is to inspire, entertain and inform by creating theatre of the highest quality.
Rifco develops and produces new plays and musicals, touring nationally to some of the UK’s most prestigious regional theatres. We present theatre of scale and spectacle that is authentic, topical, thought-provoking, rich and entertaining and which celebrates and reflects contemporary British Asian experiences, culture and society. Pravesh’s own Indian heritage plays a fundamental role in the development of his productions and his subject matter, focusing on untold stories and under-represented voices.
Our success lies in understanding our audience. A vital part of creating new work is through listening and working alongside British Asian communities; Pravesh believes in gently challenging perceptions and warmly reflecting the communities he knows.
There is no other touring theatre in the country that can make this claim with new writing and provide mid-scale theatres with high quality production values and a good box office return.
We are committed to diversifying the kind of work seen in our British theatres and we do this by commissioning British Asian playwrights and working with as many diverse actors, designers, directors that we can find. We also provide opportunities for British Asian talent to develop their ideas and careers through our Rifco Associates programme.
