The Programme

The Programme

Rifco Associates is a structured pathway of support for early and mid-career British Asian talent.

The scheme is open to writers, directors, producers, designers, composers/librettists, spoken word artists, stand-ups and performers who are looking for support to develop a piece of work. We offer bespoke opportunities to each Associate through a programme of small commissions, workshops, peer-to-peer mentoring, showcase events and links to the wider industry.

Each year we work with up to six Associates, with a proportion of those Associates going on to be supported for a second year. Every year there is a showcase event to celebrate the work of Associates with our theatre industry colleagues.

Please see the Opportunities page for current Rifco Associates call outs and other creative career development opportunities.

It was hugely useful to get feedback on my work from Pravesh Kumar. It made a real difference to me as a writer.” Sukh Ojla - Playwright

I now feel confident about seeking out feedback from industry practitioners to inform my work in the future.” Amarjit Bassan – Playwright

I think the biggest challenge for me is the fact that there are not enough professional / creative outlets for people of BAME backgrounds. I am going on to Year Two to direct a small studio piece and the experience of handling text, actors, dealing with creatives such as lighting and set designers will prepare me for a move to bigger spaces.” Ameet Chana – Director
