Rifco associates

**SUBMISSIONS FOR 2023 ARE NOW CLOSED**

Rifco Associates is a bespoke programme led by Associate Director Ameet Chana and Artistic Director Pravesh Kumar. It has been specifically created to address the lack of opportunities and pathways for British South Asian artists.

Rifco Associates was launched in 2015 to address the lack of opportunity for British Asian artists in the theatre sector. Artists from a range of artistic practices including writers, lyricists, composers, designers, aerial artists and spoken word performers have been supported through the programme.

2023 DANCE ASSOCIATES CALL OUT

This year’s Associates Programme will be made up of six dancers. We’re looking for people who have had lessons or training, so although you do need to have some dance experience you don’t need to be a professional. Similarly if you’re a professional dancer, you’re welcome to apply.

Successful applicants will receive a bespoke programme that will support the development of your dance practice and give you the opportunity to learn a range of both Indian and western dance styles and techniques, such as Kathak, Bollywood, Bhangra, Street Dance, Contemporary and Partner Work.

You'll also explore different aspects of movement - looking at physical theatre, material work and more. Plus, the programme will include one-to-one mentoring, workshops and masterclasses led by industry specialists in each discipline.

Following on from the success of some of Rifco’s previous musicals such as Britain’s Got Bhangra, Laila – The Musical and Mushy – Lyrically Speaking, our next major touring production is a brand-new musical called Frankie Goes to Bollywood and our aim is to select dancers from this year’s Associates Programme to be part of the dance ensemble and go on tour with the show in 2024. So, this opportunity could lead to your first professional dance credit.
